Our Vineyard: from the history of the ancient Romans and Etruscans to the Poggio degli Ulivi Estate
A vineyard of the Val d'Orcia wine tradition
The Poggio Degli Ulivi estate owes its name to the 1500+ olive trees that over a hundred years old, located in a vast plot in Montalcino. The extension of the property, equal to about 90 hectares, is divided into olive trees from which DOC oil is produced with a robust flavour and intense aroma and the Brunello di Montalcino vineyard.
Vineyards of the Poggio degli Ulivi estate: Brunello di Montalcino
The territory that hosts the Poggio Degli Ulivi Estate is located between Sant'Angelo in Colle and Castel Nuovo dell'Abate, in Montalcino, Siena. Slightly leaning towards the Orcia river, this land tells a very ancient story: inhabited since prehistoric times, this hilly area has hosted both the Etruscans and the Romans.
In the olive groves of the Pieve, various clay residues and remains of an ancient Roman villa have been found. The Ministry of Archaeological Heritage of Tuscany has declared the territory of 'particularly important interest'. A feature that makes our vineyards and the Brunello di Montalcino wines produced there even more precious and unique.
